Dolly Parton’s sister, Freida Parton, is reaching out to fans for prayers following the legendary singer’s recent health challenges. In a heartfelt Facebook post on Tuesday, Freida expressed her deep concern and gratitude for the love surrounding her sister.
Freida shared, “I was up all night praying for her.” She acknowledged that many fans are already aware of Dolly’s struggle, stating, “Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling her best lately. I truly believe in the power of prayer, and I have been led to ask all of the world that loves her to be prayer warriors and pray with me.”
Freida conveyed a message of hope, emphasizing her sister’s strength and the love from her fans, saying, “She’s strong, she’s loved, and with all the prayers being lifted for her, I know in my heart she’s going to be just fine. Godspeed, my sissy Dolly. We all love you!”
While Dolly has not revealed specific details about her health issues, ABC News has contacted her representatives, who confirmed that she is still engaged in work. This post from Freida follows Dolly’s announcement less than a week earlier, in which she shared via social media the necessity of postponing her anticipated Las Vegas residency.
In her earlier statement, the iconic singer noted, “As many of you know, I have been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures. As I joked with them, it must be time for my 100,000-mile check-up, although it’s not the usual trip to see my plastic surgeon!”
Dolly continued, explaining the impact on her upcoming performances: “In all seriousness, given this, I am not going to be able to rehearse and put together the show that I want you to see, and the show that you deserve to see.” She assured fans she has no intention of retiring, stating, “Don’t worry about me quittin’ the business because God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet. But, I believe He is telling me to slow down right now so I can be ready for more big adventures with all of you. I love you and thank you for understanding.”
Her Las Vegas event, titled “Dolly: Live in Las Vegas,” was meant to align with the prestigious National Finals Rodeo, featuring six performances set between December 4 and 13. It had generated excitement among fans, especially since it was to be her first extended engagement in Las Vegas in over three decades.
In a previous statement regarding her residency, she expressed her enthusiasm: “I haven’t worked Vegas in years and I’ve always loved singing there. I’m looking so forward to the shows in The Colosseum at Caesars and I hope you are as well. See you there!” The concerts were expected to showcase Dolly’s timeless hits, including favorites like “9 to 5,” “Jolene,” “I Will Always Love You,” and “Coat of Many Colors.”
Although fans are disappointed by the postponement, they remain hopeful for Dolly’s swift recovery and look forward to her return to the stage. The outpouring of support from the music community and her loyal fanbase illustrates the profound impact Dolly Parton has had on countless lives. As Freida encourages, many continue to lift their prayers for the beloved entertainer, hoping she will recover soon and return to doing what she loves best: performing for her fans.
