Liz Woods, known for her appearances on ’90 Day Fiancé,’ is bravely sharing her journey through recent health challenges in the new season of ’90 Day Diaries.’ On Instagram, she revealed a glimpse of her experience, showing a heartfelt moment where she consults with her doctor regarding her ongoing treatment for ovarian cancer.
In the emotional video, Liz, 33, recounts the moment her life changed when she received her diagnosis. “A couple of months ago, I got diagnosed with stage 1 ovarian cancer,” she explains, noting that the news was a significant emotional shock.
“Finding out I had cancer took a really big emotional toll on me,” Liz admits. “I would like, at least, some good news from the doctor of not feeling as sick throughout this journey.”
Conveying her struggles, Liz described this period as the most challenging of her life. “This is the hardest part of my life that I have ever had to share. Stay tuned for ’90 Day Diaries,'” she wrote in her post. She also expressed gratitude to friends who have supported her throughout this difficult time, particularly fellow cast members Kim Menzies and Tyray Mollett, whom she affectionately referred to as her “wow factors.”
“Thank you for being there for me this whole last year. You have known pretty much from day 1. Love you both!” Liz added.
Earlier in May, Liz had shared more about her cancer journey in a social media update, confirming ongoing rumors regarding her health. “It’s been a long exhausting year. I’m extremely tired all the time, but I’ve never been more focused on my health,” she wrote on her Instagram Story after an episode of ’90 Day Diaries.’ “I’m so focused on my daughter and what’s best for us. I know there are many more questions, but I’ve been dealing with my own battle privately.”
Ovarian cancer is a serious health concern, being one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths in women. The American Cancer Society states that approximately 20,000 women receive this diagnosis each year, with a lifetime risk of about 1 in 91. The symptoms are often subtle and can easily be mistaken for other common conditions. These may include abdominal bloating, feeling full quickly while eating, unexplained weight loss, discomfort in the pelvic area, fatigue, back pain, changes in bowel habits, and a frequent need to urinate, according to the Mayo Clinic.
Despite its prevalence, there has been a decline in ovarian cancer rates due to advancements in treatment options, which have also improved survival rates. If detected early, about 94% of patients can expect to live beyond five years after diagnosis.
You can catch Liz Woods and her journey on ’90 Day Diaries,’ which airs Fridays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on TLC and is also available for streaming on HBO Max. Her candid discussions about her battle with cancer aim to shed light on the emotional and physical challenges that come with such a diagnosis, hoping to inform and inspire others facing similar struggles.
