Fitness influencer Sami Clarke has revealed her separation from husband JT Barnett just 11 months after their wedding. The announcement came on October 5, when Clarke, 31, shared a heartfelt message with her 602,000 Instagram followers.
In her post, she stated, “My life is shifting and I’m moving into a new chapter apart from JT.” She expressed her feelings of difficulty in articulating the situation, emphasizing her belief that this decision was necessary for her personal growth. “It’s truly hard to put into words how tough this feels, but I trust it’s the right step forward for me,” Clarke said. She also conveyed her gratitude for the time they spent together, saying, “I’ll forever be grateful for the love and memories we shared for these past eight years together. Thank you for giving us space and grace as we move through this new chapter.”
Barnett, 33, responded with his own message on social media, expressing regret over needing to share such personal news. He noted that he and Clarke “have not been together for a bit,” clarifying that she made the choice to end their relationship. “She chose to step away. I love her. There’s been no relational issues & no drifting apart… just her own feeling & intuition that she needed to leave. I don’t agree with this & I didn’t want this,” he wrote.
He further elaborated on his feelings regarding the breakup, admitting his reluctance to go public with the news. “I know who I am, what I want, what I provided, and what we were. Our life has been fulfilling, happy & healthy. I don’t want to share this, and don’t want to talk about it, but because we’ve lived a public life I have to. This is a tragedy, I miss the person I love, and this whole thing has been really [f——] sad,” Barnett stated.
The couple married on November 16, 2024, and celebrated their nuptials with a stunning California ceremony, sharing multiple photos on Instagram the next day. In a joint post, they described their wedding day as “the best day of our lives.” Further solidifying their commitment, they announced in April 2025 that they purchased their first property together in Austin, Texas.
Clarke and Barnett began their relationship in 2017. The content creator, who boasts over 420,000 followers on TikTok and Instagram, originally proposed to Clarke in 2021. However, in 2023, Clarke shared with her fans and YouTube audience her feelings about needing solitude, prompting her to end their engagement. By July of that same year, she had updated her subscribers, sharing that they had reconciled.
“Hurting someone you love feels so wrong and it is so so painful. He trusted me on this journey and told me he was proud of me for listening to myself,” Clarke wrote, reflecting on her relationship with Barnett and the journey she undertook to build a “deeper relationship” with herself.
The couple’s relationship has been closely followed by fans, and their recent split marks a poignant moment in their public lives. As they each navigate this new chapter, they expressed the necessity for privacy and understanding during this difficult time.
