First Energy Distributes $750,000 to Food Banks in Pennsylvania

First Energy is making a significant impact in the fight against hunger, allocating $750,000 in grants to support 37 food banks and pantries across Pennsylvania. This initiative is part of a broader commitment that totals $2.5 million in grants awarded to 104 hunger relief organizations across several states, including New Jersey, Maryland, Ohio, West Virginia, and Virginia. This marks the foundation’s largest investment in hunger relief to date, underscoring their dedication to alleviating food insecurity in communities.

Among the local food banks receiving grants are the Altoona/Blair County Food Bank, the Center for Community Action, and the Everett and State College Food Bank, each granted $15,000. The Salvation Army of Huntingdon will receive $10,000, helping them continue their crucial work in supporting those in need.

In Bellefonte, Reliance Bank is preparing to enhance its presence in the community by opening a new branch in early 2026, contingent upon regulatory approval. This move comes after two decades of successful lending from their existing State College branch, which is located at 100 Hawbaker Industrial Drive. The new branch will be situated at 801 E. Bishop St., taking over the space formerly occupied by PNC Bank.

With the preparations already underway, local residents can look forward to a grand opening event scheduled for early 2026. The addition of this branch will not only improve banking access for the residents of Bellefonte but also reinforce Reliance Bank’s long-standing commitment to the area.

Through initiatives like these, both First Energy and Reliance Bank are demonstrating their commitment to addressing community needs and supporting local welfare. Their efforts to provide financial assistance and resources play a vital role in combating hunger and enhancing banking services, ultimately fostering stronger, more resilient communities.Nutrition & Diet
